T&K Machine receives the Paris, Texas Economic Development Council Industrial Appreciation award at the annual Lamar County Chamber of Commerce membership banquet. Since 1968, T&K Machine is one of the few aerospace-related industries in Lamar County. The company manufactures highly engineered, precision-machined airframe components and light assemblies for commercial and military aircraft. Major customers include Spirit AeroSystems, Goodrich Corporation, The Boeing Company, Triumph Aerostructures, and Bell Helicopter.
Recently, T&K Machine increased its Lean manufacturing training by using value stream mapping techniques. Employees at all levels in the company were able to develop and implement process improvements decreasing the parts cycle time by 2-3 days. In addition, throughput increased by 15% eliminating the initial significant backlog. Lean processes further resulted in reduced set-up time, consumable material cutbacks and less operator prep time all of which led to a total savings of more than $110,000 per year.
The company worked TMAC's East Central region and TEEX as a partner of a Texas Workforce Commission training grant for the aerospace industry.
