Federal Heath Sign Company (http://www.federalheath.com) received the prestigious Performance Excellence award from TMAC in a ceremony that included representatives from State Senator Nichol’s office, officials from the City of Jacksonville, TMAC staff and various customers. Jacksonville Mayor Robert Haberle acknowledged Federal Heath for its contribution to the strength of manufacturing in Texas by declaring this Federal Heath Sign Company Week.
T&K Machine receives the Paris, Texas Economic Development Council Industrial Appreciation award at the annual Lamar County Chamber of Commerce membership banquet. Since 1968, T&K Machine is one of the few aerospace-related industries in Lamar County. The company manufactures highly engineered, precision-machined airframe components and light assemblies for commercial and military aircraft.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has awarded TMAC at UT Arlington an $850,000 grant to improve the competitiveness of industries in an eight-state region by accelerating the transition of technology from research and development to efficient and affordable production.
TMAC, formerly the Texas Manufacturing Assistance Center, is the Texas affiliate of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Manufacturing Extension Partnership. The University of Texas at Arlington holds the cooperative agreement with the National Institute of Standards and Technology to operate TMAC, a partnership that also includes The University of Texas at El Paso, The University of Texas - Pan American, the University of Houston, Texas Tech University, the Texas Engineering Extension Service of Texas A&M System and Southwest Research Institute.
The TMAC Metroplex program at The University of Texas at Arlington’s Automation & Robotics Research Institute (ARRI) celebrated its 15th anniversary on Friday, October 15th with a reception for more than 100 at its Riverbend location. ARRI is a department within the College of Engineering.
South Texas College’s (STC) Institute for Advanced Manufacturing and TMAC at The University of Texas-Pan American have graduated a Six Sigma class in early June. Through this partnership, STC and TMAC have offered world-class training to Maquila manufacturing employees from ALPS Automotive, EMU Plastics, GE Engine Services, Motorola and Springs Global that have lead to savings of thousands of dollars at each company.
Janie Havel, North Texas Representative of The Office of Governor Rick Perry, presented a plaque from TMAC to Otis and Fran Blackwell, Owners, and Robert England, Partner, of RF Precision, LLC, in recognition of the company’s achievement of the ISO 13485 Medical and ISO 9001 quality Management systems.
